Xarelto 20 mg belongs to the anticoagulant (blood thinner) class of medicines. By lowering blood clot formation, Xarelto 20 mg is primarily used to prevent and treat deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in leg veins) and pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lung). A medical disorder in which blood clots form in deep veins, generally in the legs, is known as deep vein thrombosis. A blood clot stops the arteries in the lungs, resulting in pulmonary embolism.

Xarelto 20 mg acts by lowering the effect of vitamin K, which inhibits the synthesis of clotting factors. This stops fibrinogen (a soluble protein) from turning into fibrin (an insoluble protein), preventing blood clots.

Follow your doctor’s instructions when taking Xarelto 20 mg. Depending on your medical conditions, you should take Xarelto 20 mg for as long as your doctor has given it. There’s a chance you’ll have bleeding, anemia (a lack of red blood cells), and nausea. The majority of these Xarelto 20 mg side effects do not require medical care and fade away with time.
